In this week’s DIY GoPro post, you’ll learn how to make a GoPro magnet mount – using the base plate.

  1. GoPro camera
  2. Base plate – the plastic plate that your Hero3 or Hero4 came mounted on in the box
  3. 6 magnets
  4. Hot glue gun

This mount couldn’t be simpler. You’ll just glue the magnets to the back of the base plate. Once the glue dries, you’ll be able to mount your camera on any metal surface.

Here’s how to do it:

Where to Use the DIY GoPro Magnet Mount

With this mount, you’ll be able to mount your camera on any magnetic metal surface. These include iron, nickel, and cobalt surfaces.

Here are some object you can mount to:

  • fridge / stove
  • filing cabinet
  • dumpster
  • metal siding
  • road signs
  • lawn mower / snowblower
  • camping trailer

DIY GoPro Magnet Mount Tip: Depending on the type of magnets you use, you could damage the painted surface of your car or fridge. You could either attached a piece of fabric on the underside of the mount or just place a piece of paper or card-stock on the surface under your mount. This will protect the surface and still keep it steady.
